The Spilled Ink Project is a writing workshop for young people to learn about the process of crafting spoken word poetry and creating original work while receiving feedback and guidance from distinguished writers and performers—Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson & Christopher “Rooster” Martinez.
The Spilled Ink Project is designed for young adult writers (13-17 years-old) of any experience level. Workshop attendees will create writing in the vein of spoken word poetry, and examine and discuss how spoken word differentiates itself from page poetry, and be given practical techniques they can incorporate into their own performance style. This workshop helps to translate a writer’s words from page to performance by providing attendees a glimpse into the world of professional performance artistry as a poet and giving them tips for becoming published writers.
